A Small Double Buggy That's Easy to Push One-Handed and Carry Up and Down Stairs
This is the double stroller for you in case you're looking for a lightweight stroller that is easy to push with one hand. It's also simple to carry up and down the stairs.

It comes with two fixed seats, and up to 30 different seating configurations are possible (including a triangular one!). Both seats come with UPF 50+ canopy that has windows that can be seen from a distance.
Size
The Joovy Kooper X2 double stroller is a side-by side double stroller. It can be used by two children weighing up to 50 lbs. The seats are larger sized than those of other double strollers that are lightweight, and the canopies have large SPF 50 sunshades that have peekaboo windows. Other important features include cup holders for one parent and a large, self-standing basket that can accommodate up to 25 lbs; swing-away bars for children to climb in and out of their seats; and the front wheels that swivel lock for better manoeuvrability on tough terrain. This is a great option for urban and suburban families. It also comes with a double kit that includes the newborn's wedgie to ensure an optimum lie-flat position.
Weight
The weight of a double buggy is one of the most important factors that determine the ease to push. A lighter buggy will be easier to lift and carry, but may not have enough suspension to handle bumps and uneven terrain.
Check the specifications of each model before buying. Some double buggies have a maximum seat weight and others have an overall frame limit. Some also fold with the seats removed to make them even smaller and lighter, which can be useful when storage space is at the limit.
The tri-fold doubles are generally the lightest, since only one hand is needed to lift the lower and back sections. They are also smaller than side-by-side buggies, making them an ideal choice for fitting through doors. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest tri-fold doubles on the market, and can comfortably accommodate twins or a baby and toddler.
Tandem buggies start out as one pushchair, but they come with adapters that allow you to add a carrycot, a second seat or car seat, making them the ideal choice for expanding families. Some models, such as the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations so they can grow with your family up to the age of a third child. Doubles are heavier than tri-folds, however, because the weight is more evenly distributed, they are easier to move around.
Folding
The best small double buggies fold easily and can be folded in a matter of seconds. Our Lab experts love this feature as it helps them to fit the buggies into the back of their cars and also save storage space when not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up over each seat and then the whole thing folds down. Even our oldest testers were able to do this tri-fold in just one hand.
The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is a good alternative for a small double buggies. Its lightness is an advantage but so are the features it offers big pop-out canopy that come with SPF 50 protection as well as a the peek-a-boo window; swing-away bars to help little ones get in and out of seats and reclined chair and leg rests for little ones.
Manoeuvrability
When selecting a compact double stroller, you need to think about its maneuverability. This includes the ease for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Certain pushchairs, like the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are more efficient at this than others.
The narrow tandem buggies are effective in this regard, as are side-by-side designs. These buggies may be a bit larger and may be difficult to get through doors.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair is a great example, as it's a compact model that can accommodate two seats in addition to the most important thing is a pillion board that can accommodate a third kid.
Other smaller, three wheeled models, like the phil&teds Dot are also incredibly agile. This is especially true with its clever "dot kit" which transforms it into an inline buggie. This has a couple of different seating options for children with different ages. It even allows the front seat to be turned to face parents for ultimate face-to-face bonding time. It has an enormous storage basket that is easy to fold. This is a great option for growing families.
Comfort
With narrow tandem strollers or flexible side-by-side buggies, parents can monitor both children at the park, grocery store or any other place. These lightweight doubles are able to hold two children, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds each. They also come with pop-out canopy which can be extended enough to offer real shade. They also come with convenient reversible seatback cup holders and one cup holder for parents, plus a large underseat basket.
Add the phil&teds Double Kit to your dot buggy when you are just beginning to build an expanding family. It will transform it into a double stroller, which is perfect for toddlers and newborns alike. The clever 3-wheel design provides superior manoeuvrability and easy kerb pop. The sling seat is a fab baby-friendly option for the ultimate face to face bonding time. If your kids grow older, simply swap the sling for an infant car seat adapter and you're ready to go. With double pram pushchair and travel bag you're set to go on your next adventure!
